John Manley Quits Liberal Leadership Race

With months left until the Liberal Leadership Convention in November, Finance Minister John Manley told a news conference he's dropping out of the Liberal leadershio race. That leaves just Paul Martin and Sheila Copps in the running for Leader of the Liberal Party to replace Jean Chrétien when he retires in February 2004. There's not much doubt it will be a coronation of Paul Martin. Unless a surprise federal election is called first, it means Paul Martin will be the next Prime Minister of Canada.
