Using DNA Data Bank for Missing Persons Cases

The Canadian federal government may expand the DNA Data Bank to help solve missing persons cases. Canadian Press reports that Solicitor General Wayne Easter says it makes sense to add samples from missing persons to the DNA Data Bank so they can be compared against crime scene samples. While Easter supports the concept, he cautioned that there are still legal, financial and privacy issues to be resolved before it can happen. Legislation governing the DNA Data Bank is up for formal review in 2005.
