Stephen Harper is Conservative Leader

Stephen Harper won the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada with a convincing show of support from Conservatives across the country. Harper took the race on the first ballot with 56 percent of the points. Belinda Stronach was second with 35 percent, and Tony Clement had 9 percent. Harper's win comes exactly two years after he won the leadership of the former Canadian Alliance Party.
