Canada Revenue Agency Strike
Sunday September 19, 2004
As over 22,000 Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) workers head into the second week of their strike, essential tax services are still being delivered. The tax agency is also reminding Canadian taxpayers that it is up to them to do everything they can to make sure tax payments are received by the CRA in time to avoid penalties or interest charges.
Essential Services
Canada Child Tax Benefit (CCTB) payments will be issued as planned on September 20. GST/HST Credit payments and all other benefit and credit payments will also be made during the strike.
Making Tax Payments
The Canada Revenue Agency strike shouldn't stop you making personal or business payments to the tax agency either.
Taxpayers can make payments directly through their financial institutions, either using online banking or by bringing a remittance voucher directly to the bank.
You can also still make tax payments by mail.
Getting Personal Tax Information
If you need personal tax information from the Canada Revenue Agency, such as information on the Canada Child Tax Benefit, GST/HST Credit information or tax instalment payment information, you can use the Canada Revenue Agency My Account Service. Other Canada Revenue Agency online services are also working.
