Battle of Vimy Ridge

On Easter Monday 1917, all four divisions of the Canadian Corps attacked Vimy Ridge above the Douai Plain in France. The Battle of Vimy Ridge was the biggest single Allied advance on the Western front up to that point in World War I. It was also the first time the Canadians had fought together as a national unit and quickly became a focal point of Canadian national pride.
