Canadian Birth Certificates

If you were born in Canada, a Canadian birth certificate may be required as proof of Canadian citizenship for most personal identification documents and cards and for many government programs and services. Copies of Canadian birth certificates are issued by the Registrar of Vital Statistics in the province or territory in Canada in which you were born.
