Online Tax Services Shut Down Temporarily
Wednesday March 7, 2007
The Canada Revenue Agency has run into "infrastructure" problems with computer databases related to personal income taxes, and has stopped online tax services until the situation can be fixed. That includes online income tax services like NETFILE, TELEFILE, EFILE, and My Account. The agency can not yet give a clear indication of when personal income tax services will be brought back online. Business tax systems are not directly affected.
In a news release, Commissioner of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Michel Dorais said there was no indication that the computer database problems were caused by "intrusion, hacking, or computer virus."

When is this site going to be up and running again? How long can this possibly take?
No word yet on when personal online tax services will be working again. The Canada Revenue Agency says it has identified the problem, and is working to restore the 75 databases involved. They’re working over the weekend to get the databases restored. Once that’s done, they’ll work out a schedule to bring the services like NETFILE and TELEFILE back online. It’s going to be at least a few more days if not longer.
