Online Tax Services Working Again

Wednesday March 14, 2007
The Canada Revenue Agency has announced that all of its online tax services for individuals are up and running again after a week shutdown. NETFILE, TELEFILE, EFILE and My Account are all back online. The agency says it was a bad software patch than led them to shut down all online services so they could restore and test all personal income tax databases to make sure personal income tax data was not harmed.

Since the shutdown happened early enough in the tax filing season, the Agency has no plans to extend the April 30, 2007 income tax deadline.

If you had already filed your income tax return online and received a confirmation code, you do not need to resubmit it unless contacted directly by the Canada Revenue Agency. The Agency also cautions that as they work to process the backlog of income tax returns that piled up over the last week, there may be a slight delay in issuing refunds, so please be patient.
