Since Canadian Confederation in 1867 the Parliament of Canada has been the focal point of the Canadian federal government. Parliament is certainly the most visible part of the Canadian government. As the legislative branch of the federal government of Canada, Parliament is where laws are made and amended, issues of the day are debated and the government is held accountable.
