A little planning can save gas.
- combine errands to save trips
- avoid road construction, steep hills and traffic jams
- see if you can stagger your work hours to avoid peak traffic times so you spend less time sitting in traffic and use less gas
- allow yourself plenty of time to avoid fast starts, quick braking and driving too fast, all of which use more gas
- when you have a choice, remember that a four-lane highway is more fuel-efficient than a two-lane highway.
