Out of 4000 applicants, six were chosen to be the first Canadian astronauts. This 1983 CBC TV clip shows the selection process and introduces Canadians to the new astronauts. The six first astronauts included Roberta Bondar, who became the first Canadian woman in space, and Marc Garneau, the first Canadian in space who is now president of the Canadian Space Agency.
