A lawyer, Tony Clement is best-known for his leadership role as Ontario Health Minister during the SARS crisis and as a leadership candidate for the newly formed Conservative Party of Canada in 2004. In addition to solid cabinet experience in the Ontario provincial government, Tony Clement has links to both the Canadian Alliance and Progressive Conservative parties and is bilingual. Tony Clement was first elected as a federal member of parliament in the 2006 general election and was immediately appointed Minister of Health. Re-elected in 2008, he was appointed Minister of Industry.

Political Career of Tony Clement:
- Tony Clement became President of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario in 1990.
- From 1992 to 1995 Tony Clement was assistant principal secretary to Mike Harris when he was leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party.
- Tony Clement was first elected as an Ontario MPP in 1995 for the riding of Brampton South.
- He served as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Citizenship, Culture and Recreation, and as Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier, responsible for developing proposals on direct democracy.
- Tony Clement was appointed Minister of Transportation in 1997.
- He became Minister of the Environment in 1999 and was the minister responsible for the establishment of Ontario's Drive Clean vehicle emissions standards testing program.
- In 1999 Tony Clement was also appointed Ontario Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
- In 2000 Tony Clement became a founding president of the federal Canadian Alliance Party.
- In 2001, Tony Clement was appointed Ontario Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, a position he held until 2003. He played a strong leadership role in handling the SARS crisis in Ontario.
