enumeration

By Susan Munroe, About.com

Definition: An enumeration in Canada is a house-to-house survey to prepare a voters list for an election. The Canadian federal government and many provincial governments in Canada no longer do door-to-door enumeration, or only enumerate targeted areas such as new subdivisions. Instead they maintain permanent voters lists, which are updated on an on-going basis as well as at election time.
