wind chill index

By Susan Munroe, About.com

Definition: The wind chill index gives a temperature-like number to indicate what the current weather conditions would feel like on a calm day. For example, if the temperature is -5°C and the wind chill is -20, it means your face will feel as cold as it would on a day when the temperature was -20°C. The wind chill is only given in a weather forecast if it is expected to be significant.
