Career
In 1984, Roberta Bondar was one of the six original Canadian astronauts selected to train at NASA.
In 1992, Roberta Bondar became the first Canadian woman in space when she flew on space mission STS-42 aboard the Discovery space shuttle. As an international payload specialist, she performed experiments in life and material sciences.
Roberta Bondar was the first neurologist in space.
After her return from space, Roberta Bondar retired as an astronaut to devote time to research and to photography.
