Kim Campbell was attorney general and justice minister and later defence minister in the Mulroney government. She won the Progressive Conservative Party leadership in 1993, and was sworn in as Canada's first female Prime Minister in June 1993. The Conservatives won only two seats in the federal election in October that year, and Ms. Campbell's term of office ended in early November.
