About Carole James:
Carole James has a background as a school trustee and in child care and family services policy. Since her election as leader of the British Columbia NDP, Carole James has rebuilt the party from its near rout in the 2001 provincial election. As opposition leader, Carole James has taken positions opposing the BC Liberal government's carbon tax, advocating the increase of the minimum wage, reducing class sizes, freezing university and college tuition fees, and reducing hospital wait times. She has also reduced the NDP's ties to organized labour in British Columbia.

Political Career of Carole James:
- In 1990, Carole James was elected as a Greater Victoria School Board Trustee.
- She was Chair of the Greater Victoria School Board from 1992 to 1995 and from 1996 to 1998. [li[Carole James served five terms as President of the B.C. School Trustees Association.
- She also served as Vice-president of the Canadian School Boards Association.
- Carole James first ran for the provincial legislature in the 2001 BC provincial election, but was narrowly defeated.
- She was elected leader of the British Columbia NDP in 2003, defeating five other candidates.
- Carol James was first elected to the BC legislature in the 2005 BC provincial election. Not only did she win her own seat in Victoria-Beacon Hill, she led the NDP to a gain of 30 seats over the previous election.
