There are dozens of great Canadian resources on the Web for those who want to do a better job of protecting the Canadian environment.
Gardening
We all hear about composting, but would you really know how to go about it? The Composting Council of Canada has put together 25 questions and answers about composting, which should help. You can also get basic information from the New Brunswick Department of the Environment Backyard Magic, a handbook on domestic composting.
Energy Efficiency
Natural Resources Canada has an Office of Energy Efficiency. The department in one form or another has been working on energy conservation and alternative energy in Canada since the 1970s. They have dozens of good, free publications available online. Categories include home heating, cooling and ventilation, home renovation, appliances and energy use statistics.

Environment Protection
The Canadian federal government, provincial governments and environmental associations and action groups all provide useful online information on protecting Canada's air, water, land and resources. Information on work being done in each area is available at:
Wildlife
Canadian governments and many volunteer organizations and individuals work to protect species at risk in Canada. The federal government has introduced Species at Risk legislation; the federal and provincial governments cooperate through the Accord for the Protection of the Species at Risk; and the Habit Stewardship Program provides funding for volunteer conservation efforts.
