Am I Registered to Vote in the Canadian Federal Election?

By Susan Munroe, About.com

Question: Am I Registered to Vote in the Canadian Federal Election?
Answer:

Updated: 09/25/08

If you received a Voter Information Card at your current address from Elections Canada, then you are registered to vote in the Canadian federal election. If you voted in the last federal election, you are probably registered to vote in the next one. If you have moved, you may have to update your address, although it is quite possible that has already been updated from other sources.

To check if you are registered to vote in the current Canadian federal election, you can contact your local returning officer.

Even if you are not sure if you are registered, but you are a Canadian citizen and at least 18 years old, on election day go to the polling station for your current address. If you are not registered to vote, you can register when you vote.
