Senate Ethics Officer

Definition: The mandate of the Senate Ethics Officer is to administer the Conflict of Interest Code for Senators which sets out acceptable standards of conduct for Canadian senators.

The Senate Ethics Officer is an Officer of the Senate of Canada and works under the general direction of a committee established under the Parliament of Canada Act for the purposes of the Conflict of Interest Code for Senators. The Senate Ethics Officer is appointed for a seven-year term and can only be removed for cause.
