supplementary estimates

Definition: Supplementary estimates are a spending plan introduced in the Canadian House of Commons by the government to provide funds in addition to those earmarked in the main estimates. Supplementary estimates are usually due to increased costs or unanticipated expenditures. The government may introduce more than one set of supplementary estimates in a fiscal year.
