Darrell Dexter, Premier of Nova Scotia and Nova Scotia NDP Leader, is a lawyer who prides himself on his working class roots. The first member of his family to go to university, where he earned degrees in journalism, education and law, Darell Dexter is the son of a sheet metal worker from Milton, Nova Scotia. First elected as an MLA in 1998, Darrell Dexter has been leader of the Nova Scotia NDP since 2001. Keeping the NDP's emphasis on families, Darrell Dexter gradually increased the party's standings. In the 2009 Nova Scotia provincial election, he led the NDP to a majority government.

Political Career of Darrell Dexter:
- Darrell Dexter was elected to Dartmouth City Council in 1994.
