7 Rideau Gate

Definition: 7 Rideau Gate is an official residence of the Canadian federal government. Located in Ottawa, Canada's capital city, 7 Rideau Gate is just a short walk from Rideau Hall and 24 Sussex Drive. 7 Rideau Gate is used as a guest house for distinguished visitors to Canada. The National Capital Commission is responsible for the maintenance and restoration of the building.

7 Rideau Gate was built in 1861 for Henry Osgoode Burritt, owner of the Rideau Falls Milling Company. The Canadian federal government purchased the house in 1966 to serve as a guest house during Canada's Centennial in 1967.
