Quebec Pension Plan - QPP

By Susan Munroe, About.com

Definition: The Quebec Pension Plan, or QPP, administers a Quebec provincial government pension directly related to contributions and earnings. Benefits from the QPP may be paid to the contributor or his or her family in the event of retirement, disability or death. The Quebec Pension Plan applies only in the province of Quebec. In other provinces and territories of Canada, the Canadian federal government operates the Canada Pension Plan, which is similar. Benefits from the Quebec Pension Plan are taxable by both the federal and provincial governments.
