A former federal public servant and human resources consultant, David Alward has been a New Brunswick MLA since 1999 and was a cabinet minister in the Bernard Lord government. He was elected leader of the New Brunswick Progressive Conservative Party in 2008. He bills himself as a "consulter" and has promised more public consultation on major government decisions.
