About Rodney MacDonald:
Rodney MacDonald, a young Cape Breton professional fiddle player and Phys. Ed. teacher replaced retiring Premier John Hamm as Leader of the Nova Scotia Progressive Conservative Party in 2006, making him Premier of Nova Scotia. Soon afterwards, Macdonald called an election and led his party to victory, although it was a very slim minority government. In the 2009 Nova Scotia general election it was a different story and the Progressive Conservatives were soundly defeated by the NDP.

- Rodney MacDonald was first elected to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly in 1999.
- Rodney MacDonald was appointed Minister of Tourism, Culture and Heritage in 1999.
