Definition: Deputy Prime Minister of Canada is an honorary title given to a cabinet minister at the discretion of the Prime Minister of Canada. Specific duties are assigned by the prime minister.

The title Deputy Prime Minister is usually made official by a private letter from the prime minister to the Governor General of Canada. Not all prime ministers designate a deputy prime minister.
