2009 BC Referendum on Electoral Reform
On May 12, 2009, at the same time as 2009 British Columbia general election, a second referendum was held on electoral reform, and British Columbians voted on whether to adopt the BC-STV electoral system or keep the current first past the post system.
The BC-STV proposal was defeated and BC will stick with the first past the post electoral system.
