Provincial Voters Lists for Elections in Newfoundland, Canada

By Susan Munroe, About.com

Newfoundland and Labrador Voters List

A Permanent List of Electors in Newfoundland was compiled in 1994. An enumeration and revision to the voters list is made at least every five years, or more frequently when the Chief Electoral Officer considers it in the public interest.

Adding Your Name to the Voters List

You may not be on the Newfoundland and Labrador Voters List if you have recently

  • turned 18
  • moved, or
  • changed your name
The deadline for adding your name to the Voters List before the 2007 Newfoundland and Labrador provincial election is October 1, 2007.

To check whether you are on Voters List, are listed for the correct electoral district, or to register, you can call Elections Newfoundland and Labrador at
1-877-729-7987

Adding Your Name to the Voters List on Election Day

Once an election writ has been issued, you cannot apply to be placed on the Voters List.

You can still vote on election day at the polling station, but you will have to swear an oath and present appropriate identification (your drivers licence for example).
