Nova Scotia List of Electors

List of Electors for Nova Scotia Elections

By Susan Munroe, About.com

Enumeration of Nova Scotia Electors

In the fall of 2005, the Nova Scotia conducted a province-wide enumeration to create an accurate and up-to-date permanent List of Electors. This base List of Electors is maintained on an ongoing basis.

Voter Information Card for Nova Scotia Elections

If your name is on the List of Electors you will receive a Voter Information Card about two weeks after an election is called. The Voter Information Card will tell you what polling division you are in, and when and where you can vote.

Adding Your Name to the Nova Scotia List of Electors

If you do not receive a Voter Information Card, you should contact your local Returning Office to see if you are on the List of Electors. You can find your local Returning Office by using the Nova Scotia Electoral District Finder. You will need to provide a piece of personal information, such as your date of birth, to identify that you are asking for your own information.

If your name is not listed, you can go to your local Returning Office to get your name added to the List of Electors.

You can also have your name added to the List of Electors at the polling station on election day, although it may result in a delay. You will need to show identification:

  • one piece of ID with your name, address and signature (your driver's license for example)

    or

  • two pieces of ID, one with your name and address and one with your name and signature.
