Northwest Territories Register of Territorial Electors
A territory-wide enumeration took place in the Northwest Territories in the summer of 2003 to begin a permanent voters list for the Northwest Territories. The permanent voters list is called the Register of Territorial Electors.
The Northwest Territories Register of Territorial Electors is kept up to date from a variety of sources including targeted enunerations, revision during elections, additions of those sworn in on election day and federal, municipal and aboriginal governments.
Register to Vote in Northwest Territories Elections
If you are qualified to vote in a Northwest Territories election and have changed your address or are newly qualified to vote, you can register to vote using the online form on the Elections NWT site.
Revision of Voters Lists
Eligible voters can check to see if their names are on the voters list, have their names added or deleted, or make changes to their names and addresses by contacting their local returning officer during the election revision period. The revision period lasts for the first five days of the election campaign, including the day the writ of election is issued.
Your name must be on the voters list to vote by special ballot.
Adding Your Name to the Voters List on Election Day
If you are an eligible voter and your name is not on the voters list, you can still vote on polling day by taking an oath to confirm you are eligible, and by producing a piece of identification or having an election officer present who will vouch for you.
