Who Can Vote in Nunavut Elections

Eligibility to Vote in Territory Elections in Nunavut, Canada

To vote in a Nunavut election you must be

  • a Canadian citizen

  • 18 years old

  • a resident of Nunavut for the year immediately before election day

You can not vote in a Nunavut election if

  • there is a court order that says you do not understand your actions

  • you are involuntarily confined to an institution as a result of having been acquitted of on offence under the Canadian Criminal Code by reason of a mental disorder

  • you have been convicted of an offence under an election act in Canada in the five years before the election.
